The HPU Skid is mounted underneath an ROV and is intended to supply hydraulic fluid – a water / glycol mixture – under controlled pressure and flow for operating a series of functions through a hot stab interface.
The HPU Skid is mounted underneath the belly of a work class ROV and receives hydraulic power from the ROV controlled through the Remote Control Unit (RCU). The hydraulic power from the ROV is transferred into water hydraulic power as output from the HPU Skid. The HPU Skid is equipped with its own reservoir for containing the water based hydraulic fluid, also pump, filter, valves and a hot stab are part of the HPU Skid.
The HPU Skid connects to the ROV by means of a set of four probes. The supply includes one set of short and one set of longer probes.
The HPU Skid is also designed to accommodate parking of the ROV and TMS on its structure (approximately 9,5 t weight distributed equally over 4 off docking probes). In order to appear near buoyant in water, the HPU Skid is equipped with buoyancy elements.
